‘Day to night’ revels in the paradox of the isolation and loneliness that we can feel, in a world where we are always connected. The building casts a solid presence in the composition. However, despite the bricks, there is a fragility about its form; a metaphor for each of us perhaps. It is as if the strong light will break through the walls. Overhead, far away, shines another light. A star, planet or for all one knows, a satellite. This adds not only a sense of depth and scale, but also adds a near religious gravity.
