About The Artwork

As the young pugilist gazes into the distant arena, fire behind his eyes, I see a soul ready to learn the dance between adversary and self. The worn gloves before him, relics of battles past, whisper tales of strife and struggle, yet also of growth forged in the flames of effort. It is a dangerous ring he eyes, but one that may temper his spirit as surely as the boxing makes hard his body. This first day marks the beginning of a journey, where under expert tutelage hope meets hardship, and a boy becomes the man he aims to be. Though the path seems long, I believe in his strength to shoulder Life's blows with humility and grace, so that when his own gloves find retirement, they may in turn kindle new aspiration in those who seek their counsel. Such is the fate of all who enter this sacred space to better themselves, as he now does - may triumph be his, and lessons learned serve well the future he makes his own.

With his art, he attempts to relate the repetitive nature of human experiences to historical cycles and paint a glimmer of hope.
