About The Artwork

This is an experiential work, full of personal but also familiar points of view. As social beings, the interaction between friends, coworkers and even family members was interrupted, confinement or self-confinement reduced us emotionally and from extrapolated fear, stress and uncertainty in the face of the crisis, our coexistence became more difficult. According to the WHO, 50 percent of the people confined by Covid-19 suffered some type of mental condition (anxiety, insomnia, deep stress, etc.) and this part of deep fear, hopeless and paralyzing fear is what I wanted transmit in my work. The composition represents 2 alternate planes. In the upper part I represent dementia as the extreme of unbridled fear and in the lower part the human being fearful of his altered reality, clinging to the most sensitive side of him, with drops of longing. Winning that mental battle, one day at a time, hence his title. Dear Mr. Fear…. It is an irony to fear itself, to that almost childish moment of closing our eyes before what bothers us but we know that it still remains in us. In my personal experiences throughout this process, the hours of sleep are what hit me the most, perhaps I also closed my eyes hoping that when I woke up it was all over but it was not like that. However, the days go by, and each one that passes I am also overcome by fear.
