Oil painting on canvas of the River Stour in Dedham on the Suffolk / Essex border in England. Dedham was the subject of many paintings and sketches by John Constable who attended school in the village. In the background is St Mary's Church which featured in many of his paintings of the Stour Valley.

Ted Toms was born in Chelmsford, England in 1948 and studied at Colchester School of Art, where he was taught life drawing and painting by some leading contemporary artists, including Peter Coker, John Nash and Peter Blake. He finds inspiration for his landscape and seascape painting from the Stour Estuary, close to his studio in Bradfield in Essex and from frequent visits to the Rhine Valley in Germany. His work is in private collections in the UK, Europe and the United States.
