The author of this picture, Vasikhanov Asimkhan, was born in Uzbekistan in 1951. This picture belongs to the cycle of works "Dedication to Navoi". Alisher Navoi is rightfully recognized as the greatest Turkic poet and philosopher, a prominent statesman of the 16th century. For the culture of the peoples of the eastern countries and the whole world, the name of Alisher Navoi remains incredibly significant today. Interest in the personality of Navoi and his difficult fate dates back to his era and does not stop to this day. Little is known about the poet's personal life. It has been established for certain that the poet took a vow of celibacy. One of the versions of the philosopher's loneliness is the story of unhappy love. According to legend, even in their youth, Navoi and his well-known friend Hussein Baykara fell in love with the same girl named Guli. Being a faithful and devoted comrade, Alisher decided not to interfere with the happiness of a loved one and voluntarily stepped aside, persuading Guli to marry Hussein. They say that the poet carried warm feelings to his first lover throughout his life. In the picture, the artist depicted a portrait of Navoi. This work is dated 1980, the painting is in good condition with traces of use.
