Silkscreen ink on canvas handprinted in my art studio in Berlin, Germany. Oil colors are used for painting over the ink. The artwork is from 2002 and was well stored and not hanged or exhibited. The silkscreen was prepared by myself at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin. I used historial black and white photos from Paris as well as my own b/w photos (bridge) taken at the Loire near Nantes as a template. Over a course of days I travelled down the Loire with a canoe in 1997 and took pictures (in the film era). This travel on the water precedes my later solo sailing from Spain to Tahiti in 2015.
The bridge is actually ONE bridge pier which was mirrored (same the the shipyard at the bottom). Departure and Arrival. The bridge at the top was printed with iron dust which corrodes over the time, showing the fading nature (memories, place & time) of a departure.
A unique piece of artwork of my screenprint and silver gelantine cycle.

Born in Berlin. Cycling in SE-Asia. Vietnam (2x), Laos(4x), Burma(1x), Cambodia(1x), Thailand(4x) and NZ (1x), Cuba(1x). Sailing: 2015 I set sails in Mallorca (Spain) and sailed solo to the Caribbean. And in 2016 after transversing the Panama channel I sailed all the way single-handed to French Polynesia, 48 days only water and no company. The pacific is HUGE. That “empty” space made a big impression on me. I sold the boat in Tahiti in June 2016 and bought a much bigger and better equipped boat in october 2016 in Barcelona, Spain – the ETHEREAL. Setting off again to the south pacific. In spring/summer 2018 (while the ETHEREAL is waiting on Panama for me) I set up a studio again, this time in Bavaria in the mountains. Like a scout I started in spring 2018 to follw my tracks back – going mentally back to my artwork which I paused 15 years ago. A common theme on most of my works back then and now are traces. Traces left behind in time and space. Physical traces on the beach and immaterial traces (like the wake a inscribed in the pacific on my journey). Things I was able to capture (travel photography) and draw its traces onto the canvas by silkscreen print or by means of light sensitive coating. And always the pure joy to use intense colors or subtle shades of multiple layers of half-transparent colors in combination with the ink or silver gelantine to express the DISTANT TRACES.
