‘Los Descarados” by William Braemer… In the late 2000’s I went through a period of self-reflection, as many artists do throughout their career. I was filled with various emotions, feelings, and life, and wanted to personify them all in my art. I wanted to create a character or image with depth, energy, and something I could identify with, but without an actual face. It was then that my Descarados art collection was born. The word Descarados in Spanish has several meanings. Descarados can mean shameless, mischievous, ‘one without a face’, or simply faceless. Though faceless, my Descarados most certainly have personalities. Each is original and has its own energy. Ranging from regal, stoic, ominous, mysterious, to fun, sassy and more. They are Bold, Colorful, and Whimsical. As their creator, all of the Descarados are a part of me. In many ways my collectors also identify with the Descarados, each in their own personal way.

Throughout his youth, William was exposed to the fine art auction houses of New York through his father’s business. After his educatin in New York, he apprenticed throughout Europe during the 1980’s. It was his apprenticeship in the historic and deep-rooted art cultered city of Florence that truly inspired William. His passion would take him on a life long journey of self-expression… that after several decades continues to thrive and evolve today. “I have to express my gratitude, my excitement about life, and the joy I experience everyday” is what William Braemer strives to communicate in his work. William Braemer’s art has been exhibited in major cities throughout the Americas, Europe, United Kingdom, and Asia, including Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Dubai, Paris, London, Beirut, Tokyo, Florence, and Venice.
