Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

My work was painted especially for my individual art show "Escenario Existencial" ("The Existential Stage"). It is a part of the serie "Behind of consciousness".
"A peek into a private or sacred space inside a cave, at a theatrical stage during a rehearsal, into a camera body where the magic of the appropriation of a moment of life is taking place, or into a warm bedroom of lovers, is powerfully meant to revive aesthetic pleasure, the emotion of clandestine mischief and we marvel at the existential possibilities of what will happen after a sublime moment.

Thus, Monika Gabrys pictorial proposal leads us, as if in secret, to take a look inside her life scenario, full of revealing snapshots where her own image is stylized in favor of the emotional impact to be discover in the trance between the key decisions in her life, between being for the art and being for her close, immediate, demanding people.

To this end, her pictorial language is a sort of unstable equilibrium, tense balance between figuration and abstraction, between expressionist painting and constructivism, and, in the latter case, between the carnality of abundant, full life, and the gloomy corner of the wiles and death that awaits lurking, as one of those naughty, clandestine spectators, whom Monika invites us to become through her work.
The need to paint as a means of manifesting who you are, seen from the private stage of the disjunction." (Jose Luis Rumbo)
