About The Artwork

This painting I began a few weeks after September 11, 2001 as a way to distract myself from the trauma of what I saw. Lines woven everywhere in organic and geometric shapes that for years I did not know what else to do with; in 2010 I finally saw a map of NYC emerge from the chaos. So, I finished the piece by adding mini figurines of the Empire State building, original Twin Towers, and the Statue of Liberty, and some Swarovski crystals. Copyright 2010 by Ginger Pennington
