About The Artwork

This is multi canvas abstract expressionist artwork. Two canvases that are 24" x 24" in size , put together when hang on wall would be 48" H X 24" W . Inspired by The New York School artists. I created these two canvases to be hang together and the orientation as shown in picture. I wanted to create this multi panel-canvas artwork which is to convey a feeling of the moment to freeze it to eternity. I signed the two canvases separately on the left bottom corner. The side of the canvases painted so that they do not need to be framed. I used mostly ink, and acrylic paint mixture and palette knife , and Japanese brushes. The black is actually is not black , but a combination of colors including blue. This is of course departure from reality , but what is a reality ? . This painting is my inner feelings at the moment of creation, but it manifests itself in the end.

Hi, I am Mutlu Ertac: I was born in 1961 in Turkey .I have been painting in Oil and Acrylic since 1983. I met Vincent Farrell in Laguna beach, California in 2000, who was a very well known Plein-air artist who was also Sergei Bongart's student in his early career years. I studied under Vincent Farrell for 4 years. The distinctive, broad strokes of color on canvas serve as my signature style. My colors are harmoniously arranged, seeking simplicity and pure shimmering of light and color in my paintings. My work reflects my development in art from traditional paintings towards contemporary works. I like to use broad ,vivid colors and sudden large brush strokes to create an image that is spontaneous but very well thought before applied on Canvas... I am a colorist, working in exaggerated color, using dynamic but carefully controlled color relationships and in my abstract works ,I approach the painting as color first , feeling that is expressed and later the composition and whole idea of the art to fit together.... I apply the paint and after the paint is put on Canvas , I try to not disturb again by overworking...Image already in my mind, so It only takes few strokes to apply on Canvas...  WEBSITE : mutluertac.com INSTAGRAM : @mutlu.ertac_art
