I have always been fascinated by relationships between people. Relations start at a very early age, where children share their secrets and discoveries with an innocence that is later lost to the taboos of society.

Germany
Over the decades now, art has put its stamp on me - and perhaps a little bit also the other way around? I trace my almost forgotten roots in the emerging social critical movements of the 1960s and 1970s, when I became convinced that art should keep its distance from a societal order that denies its negative traits and wants the aesthetic sphere to serve the existing general repression. I would like to think that I am not involved in the mere maintenance of a world view that has exhausted itself in rhetorical gestures. Some describe my works as chilling, at times even frosty, provocative in their uncompromising harshness and committed in any case to an experience that begins where the protective surface of superficial beauty brakes down. But there is a lasting beauty below the surface, after skinning the body of the image, exposing the darker angels of our existence. There is truth to the shallow disturbing world that embodies fragile and tragic features, yet also defines our quest for a light and airy existence. An ephemeral quest, according to the French pessimist E.M. Cioran, who holds that in such reality, the injurious and the painful are steadily destined to return to renew the process.
