About The Artwork
"This painting was inspired by a historical building I visited in Portugal in which I felt a strong sense of presence - I photographed the building, and created four paintings, this being one of the four. My intention was to recreate the feel of the place by painting the space empty, with natural light. I used ink as it's my favourite material to capture the different tones within a single shadow".
