About The Artwork
This painting describes a feeling of being overburdened or overwhelmed by world events, personal responsibilities and sadness. The sadness is tempered by comfort, wisdom and kindness. The central figure is pictured sitting on the world, as if about to step off. Another figure gently holds her hand. The nakedness describes an inner vulnerability. Drawings of flowers and birds surround the two figures. In 2020, the work was selected for the semi finals of King House Gallery's "This is 2020" exhibition, and for The Resilient Self exhibition at the Espacio Gallery, London. This painting is framed in a deep-edge light grey frame with an off-white slip.
