About The Artwork
The content of most of the work is about a narrative. A narrative that comes from a personal history that I explore and redefine as I move onto the next body of work. I believe all of our experiences are somehow embedded inside us. Some come to the surface while others are obscure and remain underground or below the surface, an internal landscape. I use symbols and metaphors to convey the ideas behind my pieces. I take from a collection of objects and shapes that come from a personal reference or experience. This piece is stretched canvas with acrylic paint and a variety of drawing tools. It is a layering process that has been worked back and forth which creates depth. The piece has been wired and the edges have been painted so it can be hung on a wall as is or framed if desired.

From the the Pacific Northwest, Rebecca earned her BFA degree from the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA). She has lived the last 20 years in Eugene, Oregon in the heart of the Willamette Valley. inspired by the lush green of this valley and the fog that nestles between the surrounding hills in the winter and fall. She is influenced by her surroundings, personal history and language. Her titles often define the subject within each piece and she likes to play with the duality of words and how they can have several connotations. Her paintings include some element of drawing, but through the years they have evolved to blend drawing and painting, an amalgam of lines, shapes, and colors that invite individual interpretation.
