About The Artwork

Double Red is a watercolour painting on paper, I was inspired to paint this image from the beautiful red roses growing in our hedge, photographs of these exquisitely scented roses are shown in the last two images. I hope through this painting you can feel the ruffles and the delicate texture of each of the perfectly formed petals. The double blooms continue to flower throughout the year and the bright red looks sensational alongside a bright green hedge line. I hope you, the collector, absorb the beauty of such a rose and appreciate the elegance of nature. I chose watercolour as the medium for this painting to enhance the delicacy of the painting, I used Winsor and Newton watercolour pans on Bockingford Rough White (140lb) acid free, archival, mould made paper. The artwork will be sold to the collector mounted and framed, ready to hang on your wall. Unframed Size: W:21cm x H:30cm X D:0.1cm Framed Size: W:33cm x H:42cm x D:2cm

I studied English Literature BA (Hons) at university and I went on to do a Creative Writing course with the Open University. This led me to becoming a writer of children’s books, in particular I enjoy creating picture books. Gradually the picture became my focus and I started to create an Illustrator’s portfolio. The subject matter I work with varies from representing shape and form to intricate details. I am fascinated with nature and its’ various forms, whether it be wild animals, the wilderness, the weather or our pets. These themes compel me to create art. I have a love and deep respect for nature in all its forms, I hope these feelings permeate into the drawings via my brush or pencil. Illustrators such as Axel Scheffler, Alexis Deacon and writers such as Thoreau, Wordsworth, William Blake and George MacDonald inspire my artwork.
