Often sockets, light switches, fire alarms etcetera, are at places you don't really like. They are there for a reason: because they are useful, not because they are beautiful. I like to emphasize their presence in my work, by painting them. And make them beautiful after all. Once you've noticed them, you see them everywhere.

After having studied Economics and worked for a couple of years, I decided to change my profession and applied for the Academy of Art and Design in Arnhem. I graduated the course Fine Art in 2005. In that same year I received a stipend from the Mondrian Fund. I moved to Groningen where I live and work since. My studio is in a building that used to belong to the University, but now accommodates over 100 artists, designers and other professions.
