About The Artwork

There is a considerable amount of symbolism in this artwork, and yes, some amateur dream interpretation as well. Mice simply appearing in dreams can represent vulnerability and strong feelings of isolation. However, a pink mouse can indicate general success in your love life. But at the same time this could also indicate that while this woman probably enjoys a romantic relationship, it's likely one-sided, meaning that she contributes much more than her share. Balloons flying away from the main subject or escaping the scene, incidentally, is called "globophobia". And then there is the presence of the seven balloons of varying colors. Again, the mouse appears to be moving away from and possibly escaping from the situation. It's possible that his escape indicates some sort of anxiety and possibly even some degree of panic on the woman's part. Looking more closely at the colors of the balloons, you'll note that the red balloon on the handlebar of the scooter stands out. The red color represents passion and love, but it also might be a warning of danger in the relationship. Pink reveals the woman's strong sense of all things feminine. Yellow is most notable for its optimism. But the black balloon, which is also part of what supports the mouse and his scooter represents fear and negativity. Finally, the white balloon likely counters some of that negativity and is supportive of the woman's desire for new beginnings. Notably, two balloons are falling away from the others; a blue one that reveals her loss of freedom and individuality and a green one that possibly indicates stunted growth on the woman's part. In summary, this woman appears to be involved in a romantic relationship that is likely somewhat deficient in a number of ways. While she may look as if she's put together well, and that things are going well, a brief interpretation of all the signs present in her dreams says that maybe that's simply not the case.

My artwork, I believe, is just part of an endless learning process that moves me one more step toward successfully rendering my own unique and personal vision of the world. I have been on this planet for quite awhile; some seventy-odd years, in fact. I was born and raised in the Dallas, Texas area and I live in Mesquite, Texas, a large suburb of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro-plex. I hold two degrees from a New York University; one of them a Masters degree. I previously also completed graduate work in Ethics and Conflict Resolution at Southern Methodist University. By profession, for over forty years I was at one time or another, an accountant, a CFO, and a financial analyst prior to my early retirement in 2009. Most of those years were spent in the petroleum and banking industries. Some would likely call me a late bloomer because both of my degrees didn't come along until I was well into my forties and fifties. I have been interested in photography all my life, but I didn't really discover the art world and become an avid participant until about ten or twelve years ago. That said, my interests are rather wide-ranging. I write and have published poetry, articles, essays and novels. I am an amateur radio operator, I play several musical instruments, my favorite being the piano, and finally, my wife and I own two gorgeous convertibles that are more than ready for participation in all the local car shows. My artwork and my photography is held in a number of private collections throughout the world. I have experimented with abstract sculpture and painting and multi-media work, but find that I generally prefer drawing. My favorite subject is studies of the human face; with an appreciative focus on all things feminine. I'm quite content to share my art with those who appreciate my work for whatever it might mean to them. I can't think of any awards or prizes I've won for my artwork, but I have to say I'm not all that interested in competition, but I am more interested in producing art that means something to me and suits my tastes and goals. In short, I feel I am a man who has lived long enough and has experienced enough of the world to truly appreciate the incredible beauty of our world and what it offers us. In particular, I also appreciate being given the opportunity to record the human spirit as I personally see it and to thereby create my own personal impressions of some of the interesting people who inhabit it.
