ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is another in the minimalist abstract landscape series. The feeling is one of darkening or dusk in a winter landscape. The buildings are huddled together in strong colors and the trees or forms are staying close together in the white fields. Bands of dark color swipe across the scene - both grounding it and at the same time suggesting movement or possible change. This series contrasts with the earlier vibrant, strongly colored abstract landscapes.

I was born in Tehran in 1961 and discovered my passion for painting very early -- I was 8 years old. I started working as a painter from age 16. Conditions were very favorable for making art at that time and I was utterly immersed in art and poetry -- in fact my colleagues and professors at the university used to call me "the poet painter". The work of Paul Klee inspired me and I loved the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca. Painting was always the central part of my life and has remained so. I moved to Los Angeles in the year 2000.
