Of Brooding Cocoons; Dragonflies, the keepers of the Magical Realm, and Dream Catchers. The painting is a depiction of the heart of spring, a fantastical carnival-esque world, complete with a burst of the floral and biomorphic masses growing into an otherworldly ecosystem. Like some of my other works, it is a piece about chaos and finding order in chaos. It is about metamorphosis, of letting go of the old and welcoming the new

Asma Kazi is a multidisciplinary Indian artist currently based in IN, USA. She has worked as a professional artist since 2012, and has been commissioned to work on various fine art and commercial art projects in this time. Her artwork currently resides with collectors around the world, including Sheikha Nawar Al Qassimi of the Sharjah Art Foundation, and has been exhibited in India and the US. Some of her commercial art projects include artwork created for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hachette Books, Zee TV and Hoshruba Repertory. Before 2012 her curriculum vitae did not include art, and mainly read - CRMS, Zoology, Business Strategy, Real Estate, and Analytics. Asma has a BSc In Zoology, a diploma in software engineering, and a MBA in marketing. She has a Six Sigma green belt certification, and worked at the Analytics Centre Of Excellence while at GE card services, Bangalore. She has also worked on Tenant Strategies & Solutions while at Cushman & Wakefield, Bombay. Asma’s mode of expression in her constantly evolving work swings from abstract expressionism, sculptural mixed media works, fantastical figurative themes, to pop art, and repetitive illustrative patterns. Her work has a touch of whimsy, is hyperactive, and brings together seemingly abstract elements in a state of cohesiveness. She sometimes draws her inspiration from imaginary biomorphic forms, and the other times from dwelling in the abstract of alien landscapes and the chaos theory. The extensive use of textures and repeating patterns in her work, are like a glitch, like patina, giving multidimensionality to the art. The repetitions are sometimes calming, quirky & playful the other times, always giving a sense of order in the chaos. Some of her artworks seem to have grown complex personalities of their own, evolving year after year, as she adds new detail to it, creating a new story over a story, resulting in art that is rich with emotion and texture. Asma’s work is evocative, sometimes playful, influenced by tales from her childhood, time spent in Zoology class and inspirations drawn from following the breadcrumb trail of the everyday. It is a celebration of the ever evolving, and ever enchanted in life, alongside beautiful dilapidation.
