Earth Exit 2 Painting

In the beginning, these works began as an exploration of luminosity. However, the more they developed and as I was able to let go, I found they were yearning more to be specifically a study of the luminosity and the spirit of the landscape. These works to me feel like ancient land. They feel powerful and sentient. Through texture and depth, the closer you look, the more layers you see. This piece to me feels like ancient spiritual beings, exiting the land that has long been home. It is an exit of acceptance though preferably they would stay. This piece was achieved through many many layers of glazing. I used Golden's clear leveling gel to create a sense of depth - by literally creating depth. Oil Pastels were used to drag through the texture the glaze while still wet, creating narrow windows to the layer below creating a subtle contrast. Tthese pieces are glazed with more clear levelling gel to create a shellac effect. Please allow two weeks for framing
