____________________ Earth and sky I call this artwork Earth and sky because when you get closer to it, you are able to see in the left circle the nature, streets and fruits, all connected with each other, like many things on earth and in the sky. They are drawn with a navy blue ball-point pen and are covered in green color which connects them even more. Green is the color of optimism, nature, but also for poison, these are all things we have on earth and with whom we have to live in harmony. The other dots are celestial bodies, some of which we see in the sky at night. But the circular surface of the mirror foil could also represent the earth. Because when you look in that mirror, you see yourself closed in a blue circle. This shows one's place in the universe. Enveloped and safe in the atmosphere, which is blue because of the same reason, due to which some people have blue eyes. This painting has an element of a collage because besides paint on the paper's surface there is also a circle shaped mirror foil living on it and is spending its time. Earth and sky is an abstract painting that is part of the Reflection series. The artworks of this series have the imprint of my experimentation with the concept of "the Beholder's Share" The beholder's share is that an artwork is completed in the viewer’s mind. The viewer interprets in a subjective way, what s/he sees while viewing the artwork. With this interaction with the painting s/he is adding meaning to the artwork. To make this dialog and transcendence with the viewer stronger and more realistic, I cut a mirror foil in the shape of a circle and stuck it on the paper’s surface. What I really love about the reflective circular area on Earth and sky is that it affirms it is about you and there is something about you. The white background embodies one of the many meanings of the homonym "reflection". White as an image of the interplay of many thoughts and reflections in the brain. The water surface as well as the mirror foil embodies the physical definition of the homonym in this artwork.
