As in the next painting in this series, Ebbing tide 2, Iam inspired by the movement of the tide as it laps the shoreline & creates ripples in the sand.I have introduced 22ct gold leaf in some pebbles . This suggest how they become highlited in the sunlight when wet. This painting is conceived to align with No 2 in this series. In so doing it would make a diptych approx 6 feet in width.
