The swirling waters and rapids of the Nooksack River runs from its headwaters in the Cascade Mountains to the lowlands and the Salish Sea. My initial inspiration for this oil pastel painting came from both a hike up the Nooksack River, which I was reminded of by the patterns of the wood grain on the panel I was working on when I started this artwork. I mimicked the wood grain as I added colors and accentuated the forms in the wood panel.
