About The Artwork

The starting point of the picture is Egon Schiele's work, Death and the Girl, which reflects on the situation of the "future", where the background disappears completely, everything is as foggy and swampy as in Andrei Tarkovsky's pictorial world. I placed a balancing male character in the space, which refers to uncertainty, while the female figure, symbolizing earthly existence, pulls me towards reality, i.e. life. The work presents the duel between existence and non-existence.

I am Ferenc Bartus, a painter. I was born in Kazincbarcika in 1974. I have been living and creating in Budapest since 2001. From 2005 to 2011, I completed my fine arts studies at the painting department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, and then graduated from the master's degree in art teacher training. Ars poetica "Fragments of Self-Research" The basic experience and motivation of my creative period was the search for the "WAY". I focus on the world through my own Universe, perceive and perceive "reality". The goal was to recognize my own being, to find my being, to emotionally explore its essence. I view and depict my inner world based on the principles of Nietzsche's "Dionysian art". My images are born from the relationship and combined effects of the manifestations of ratio (the sight that unfolds before me) and controlled automatism (the being breaking to the surface). On the breaking out of the individual from the closed forms, from the body; my works are about the duel between physical and spiritual existence, the relationship between "dream" and "reality". Their content is made up of the conditions of my own inner existence, the continuous evolution of matter and forms, and the mappings of objectified reality. In 1998, I started to orient myself in the direction of fine arts. During my career, I joined several contemporary groups and associations. Since 2004, I have been an active member and organizer of the Block-Art Cultural Association and the Nagykáta-Erdőszőlő International Artist Colony. From 2006 to 2016, I was a regular participant of the Jászberény Art Camp symposiums. Since 2011, I have been a member of the National Association of Hungarian Artists (MAOE). In recent years, I have presented the works created during my annual programs at individual exhibitions. In my works, I use photographic techniques and painting solutions in parallel. For me, the basis of photography always means matter, the representation of our world, the possibility of intervention is the creation itself, the spiritual expression. In my painting, evoking the process of photo labs, I present the individual elements of the image, or I stop the details of the elaboration of the image using the interruption process. The often spontaneous and instinctive images constantly shaped my outlook and intentions. I evoked the reality that had disappeared in photo experiments in painting and created my symbolic world by reworking my own feelings and thoughts.
