About The Artwork
Walking thru the valleys and mountains of central Mexico I picked up a fallen leaf, curled and darkened as it dried. The light cast upon this leaf from the setting sun brought out it’s circular form & color, connecting it to the setting sun. Despite the distance that stands between two points, the light & beauty one gives the other can not be diminished. I choose to glue pages from an old encyclopedia in between the upper branches of the trees to represent the chaos often created from words. The opening of sky at the top middle of painting is meant to symbolize an exit into pure nature.
