About The Artwork

“El Regalador de Juguetes” oil on canvas, 40inches x 60inches, is a “toy”, a kind of “pataki” according to the fantasy event when Eleggua (Orisha who is the messenger of all the Orishas and he is the owner of all doors and roads) is represented for the image of a child who is holding a “garabato”. This painting is the recreation of the moment Eleggua is coinciding in a fair when the human people who dance an play, and a guy, who is giving to the kids toys for free, give to Eleggua, another child, a “matraca”, noisy toy of the fairs. Suddenly the companions of Eleggua stop and watch the time when the child orisha enjoys his new toy.

My inspiration are the human conditions and situations and the Masters of figurative art. I am one of those painters totally fanatic to the strength of the strokes over the canvas and their infinite sensations after having worked with recyclable materials, solving art projects. My figurative expression supports my compositions, obsessive with fluency and bold colors. I agree with the opinion that my art is expressionist, honoring my influences: the Cuban Masters Fidelio Ponce de León, Carlos Enriquez, and his wife, Alice Neel, the Asturian Master Evaristo Valle and many more. It is intrinsic to my personality to be satiric and I enjoy and develop that condition in my paintings. Satire for me is freedom and passion for life. My language is national in its characters and intensity of color, but my intention is an international language been able to read for any person around the world. I believe in the intensity of the memories, the pain through the life, the intense feeling that come with love and death. Is really hard avoid the easy success for respect your own way, your own credo, by respect the authentic emotion than many Masters have evidenced by centuries with their concepts and soft or heavy paint strokes. For many reason I know I have my own site in the art world, minimum site is enough, someday more people will know about that, meanwhile I get the pencil or the brush and do a trace.
