A female British artist from Nottingham born in August 1975, now residing in the Corbieres boondocks of the South of France. In her paintings she mainly concentrates on abstract naive hominoid forms and pure abstract forms, and likes to deviate from convention, playing with concepts, colours, shape and space. A lot of her work is based around the ideas of otherworldly, other dimension, energy, and space. Her inspiration comes from ancient history, mythology and mysticism, and a dream diary which she has kept since the age of 16 but also details dreams she can remember from her childhood. She uses mixed mediums such as acrylic paint, decorators paint, pens, and sometimes textures the canvass with paper and multiple paint layering. You will notice a lot of the beings in her work are portrayed without faces and the forms are simplified to demonstrate a sense of alternate dimension where matter isn’t completely formed or seen in the same way you and I see the world around us. This also conveys that in this realm identity isn’t terribly important as forms and characters can often mutate into something else. Historical artists that have inspired her are from the Surrealist movement such as: René Magritte, another artist who also famously did not portray faces; Gustav Klimt from the Art Nouveau movement but with surreal undertones; and Salvador Dali.
