Elder Self-Portrait Painting

I was inebriated at the time of this painting, my mind regressed into that of a child and I formulated the idea to toss aside my brushes and instead dab my fingers into the assorted colors of my pallete. The current piece was the result; looking at it, I feel that my mind regressed in such a way to understand the inevitability of aging, of death, and the ensuing changes of appearance, personality, and mind. I see myself as an elder, a clown, hiding behind smeared and blurred lines like that of a drunkard. I chose finger painting this piece, and then moving onto using a fine tipped brush for the inner details, because I was drunk; I can however interpret it as a form of "self-growth", like how a child steadily reaches adulthood, the fine tipped brush.
