About The Artwork
Abstract painting using handcrafted botanical inks and oil paints made by myself including grass foraged from northern Arizona forest one summer afternoon, the grass was turned into ink. Turmeric, onion skin were also used to make natural ink. Dandelion flowers collected in downtown Flagstaff, AZ made into pigment and then oil paint. This is a painting made from the earth, a living piece of art. Do you remember what it feels like to touch the grass? To immerse yourself in the world below your feet, to look down not ahead. The smell of green, the alchemy that happens when plants are kissed by the sun. The ever loving, always giving, giant start of light. A soft place to land, the carpet of the earth. A cool place to lay and connect with the rhythms of our home. Each blade a universe of it’s own, refuge for the tiniest of beings. A giver of life, sustenance for some, a chore to others. Childhood memories of grass stained jeans, hang outs in parks. The feeling of gently moving a hand over each blade, a tickling of touch. Do you remember the simplicity of life? Emerald towers reaching for the sky. A color so rich, yogis deem the heart space. Abundance, portals into our earthly soul. Do you know the value of green beyond the concept of money?

I am a painter who interprets the unseen into reality through geometric vibrations expressed through illuminations and symbolism. My art creates poetic visual stories and talismans, combining styles of structured lines to free flowing representations of the natural world. Light and colors are the foundation of my work, I am inspired deeply by the natural world. This lends itself to creating energetic living pieces of art through the play of color, form and the relationship between hues. Painting is a place for me to sit down and focus, my artwork is an interpretation of a living experience, it is an internal response to my external world. When it begins to take shape in my mind there is a strong desire in my heart to create that which I feel. Working with acrylics and mixed media on various surfaces such as walls, canvas, wood and repurposed objects. I find versatility with the way I see my art and how my hand moves as I paint. This gives me freedom to create bold or subtle pieces, and gives my work flexibility, which allows me to create from the pure place of expression.
