About The Artwork
This painting has so much depth, it's hard to tell by the photos!! 15-20 layers of wax and shellac with sand to get the beach feel. Finished with epoxy resin. Live edges and on a wood board, wired and ready to hang. Please contact me to commission similar work. What is encaustic wax? Encaustic consists of natural bees wax and damar resin (crystallized tree sap). Pigments may be added to the medium, or purchased colored with traditional artist pigments. The medium is melted and applied with a brush.. Each layer is then reheated to fuse it to the previous layer.
