About The Artwork

This engine was sitting pretty begging to be snapped. The Aboriginal Affairs' logo on it was inspired by the relationships CN maintains with all Aboriginal peoples in Canada. The First Nations are represented by the eagle feather, the Métis are represented by the infinity symbol and the Inuit by the Inukshuk. A CN team, including Human Resources and Aboriginal Affairs, worked with the University of Winnipeg's Indigenous Studies group to create the logo. The three symbols representing the three Aboriginal peoples of Canada are placed with the CN logo showing CN's commitment to developing and maintaining respectful and sustainable relationships with Aboriginal peoples across its network.

Born and raised on the Canadian prairies. Rust on my bones, maple syrup in my veins. I come from a lineage of artists but I found my way to art from my love of graffiti. In particular, my love of freight train graffiti. Train yards were my playground and riding the rails was my preferred way of travel. A few years older now, my love for trains has not wavered but has transcended graffiti itself. Trains present themselves as blank canvases, a conduit if you will, for communication. They have become moving art galleries that are unforgiving and cold. My paintings seek to capture that sense of cold steel and also the raw unapologetic art that often adorns the sides of the cars and bring a little warmth to that cold steel. Oh yeah, and chips. I love chips so I paint bags of chips sometimes.
