We are an artistic couple, interested in abstract photography and abstract expressionist painting. Artists' statement Technique we explore these days is taking pictures while moving the camera, experimenting with different subjects and types of lighting. If you think about it we never perceive reality as still. Even if we don't move relatively to observed objects and the objects themselves are steady, our eyes make fast movements, locating interesting parts of the scene to concentrate on, building up a corresponding mental, three-dimensional 'map'. In this sense, it is the still image which is an abstraction, whereas the would-be abstract image is more 'real' or 'realistic'. This could be one of reasons why we like what we call 'abstract' - our brains are used to deal with this type of information. Our approach relates to a variety of techniques and ideas in modern art. The inclusion of movement, unusual visual angles and vivid colors make it a development of Impressionism. Street and landscape photos, made in the day light with long wave-like and curly hand motion resemble works of surrealists. Оthers made with artificial light resemble abstract expressionistic paintings. Camera motion can create an image abstraction in many ways artists have conceived of before, but we believe it can also create new types of visual expression and this is one of the areas of our artistic research
