About The Artwork

Portrait mixing graffiti and acrylic paint made on a wall and mounted on a black wooden support. It is like a "torn wall". The support for this painting is a plasterboard. This young girl looks at us from the top of her glasses, her face is both amusing and full of self-confidence, almost arrogant. We find flashy touches of color often used by the artist. Hand-signed, this portrait cut into the wall is part of the very current street art culture. It is mounted on a black wooden support, and ready to hang.

Nathalie Cubéro is a French painter, living and working in Aix-en-Provence, France. Her work is based on several techniques inspired by urban art such as graffiti or stencil, but also academic techniques, like leaf gilding, in a special care to marry the opposites. Nathalie Cubéro is interested in the human being in all that is most secret and intimate, and depicts her characters in ambiguous situations, at the crossroads. Her protagonists find themselves face to face with the outside world, but especially with themselves, in an almost sudden detachment of the visible reality towards the non palpable. Something is happening, but the viewer must find the answers in his own emotions. Made of personal or fictitious stories, her paintings illustrate an insidious threat, an unrequited happiness, a silent gesture, as many situations turned towards the intimacy of each individual, thus titillating the imagination of the spectator.
