About The Artwork

The painting is inspired by a mix of Giocometto's elongated, isolated human figures and the cyclical nature of geological processes as also described in Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. The elongated figures, imbued with a sense of timeworn wisdom and resilience, stand as sentinels of the transformed landscape, their etched forms echoing the collective experience of generations. I hope the viewers will enjoy to explore this zonation painting in more depth, illustrating a kind of timeless dance of transformation, strata and legacy of distant worlds, the desolated labyrinth of time's footprint and the transformation of geological deposits into etched figures. I choose the acrylic medium on canvas, the abstract subject matter and a transformative, expressionist style in a zonation painting approach where I first painted the geological layers (a a vertical format), before rotating the canvas 90 degrees, and subsequently working on the etched forms echoing the collective experience of generations (the elongated, isolated figures).
