About The Artwork

The composition consists of 49 (7 x 7) constituents. The 48 seashells are symbols of eternal permanent Values. The cracked background with craquelures symbolizes the Eternity. The triangle formed by three seashells in the centre with the upward vertex symbolizes the idea of Development. The alien computer ‘shell’ is the symbol of transient values. As part of the triangle, it may equally well carry the ideas of destruction or of creation. The upward movement symbolizes the idea of the mission of a human person. Perception of their right of choice and responsibility for it from the position of righteousness will help them preserve and elevate the world donated from on high.

I was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, to the family of an artist and arts critic. As a young man, I lived in Kazakhstan, where I had a personal gallery, working under the aegis of the President of Kazakhstan. My canvases were part of his gift fund. My paintings were presented to Bill Clinton, Emperor of Japan, Pope John Paul II, President of Uzbekistan, and other celebrities. Then I lived and worked in the Czech Republic, where jointly with the Kazakhstan Embassy I was involved in the organisation of exhibitions of Kazakhstani culture in the European countries, and took part in these exhibitions. When I understood that in order to be able to develop as an innovating artist, I would need a calmer place and time – and I moved to Anapa, where I have lived for the past twenty year. Recently, I have created three new projects, including the development of a new painting trend, Paletteism.
