The inspiration for this work flowed from the depths of my soul, ignited by the eternal beauty of Michelangelo's David. Standing before this masterpiece, I was struck by the timeless elegance and profound grace emanating from the statue. I wanted to capture that essence, to breathe life into the stone with the vibrant colors and tactile strokes of oil on canvas. I hope that when viewers gaze upon this piece, they will feel a sense of reverence and awe. I want them to be transported to a moment where the classical and the contemporary converge, where the lines between sculpture and painting blur. I hope they sense the power of art to transcend time and place, to stir the soul and provoke thought. Oil was the best choice because of its ability to convey depth and texture, allowing me to recreate the sculptural qualities of David's form. The subject matter, of course, was born from the iconic beauty of Michelangelo's masterpiece, a symbol of human potential and artistic achievement. The style emerged as a fusion of classicism and modernity, a bridge between past and present, paying homage to the timeless masterpiece while bringing a fresh perspective to it.

Annibale Pace, also known as Carmine, was born in Grottaglie in 1963 and later moved to Taranto for work-related reasons. His passion for art, nurtured since his youth "in his heart," fully blossomed when he discovered the art courses offered by Maestra Antonella Micocci. Here, he learned the fundamentals of artistic interpretation and its diverse applications. After a period of apprenticeship, his thirst for knowledge led him to the workshop of Maestro Paolo Tagliaferro, where he cultivated a passion for hyperrealistic painting. Not content with that, and even more intrigued, he found himself under the skilled guidance of Maestro E. G. Solferino, a meeting that encouraged him to approach the Artistic Center "La Casaccia," where the maestro conducted courses in artistic disciplines. With the cultural baggage he acquired and the experiences gained over the years in the regional and national art scene, he aimed to participate in high-profile international exhibitions, garnering significant acclaim.
