About The Artwork
This is an oil painting done on a quality canvas mounted on board. It is hanging ready and comes with a nice gold colored frame (pictured). This is a true Plein air piece with only a little studio work at the end. What I set out looking for that day was the beautiful linear aspect of trees in nature, and also the amazing way nature will "flatten" and make large shapes of tone with a bank of fog in the morning for example. With this piece I was able to convey that aspect of a foggy morning to some degree in the background, the way a complicated mass of trees and buildings is united in a single tone which has a beautiful shape. This is a focus of my work of late, and I am still exploring it.

I was born in, and currently live in Northern California among the Oaks and rolling hills. After receiving a Bachelors degree from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, I moved back to Sonoma County where I have been working and painting ever since. landscape painting inspired by the beauty and wild of Northern California has always been a central theme of my artwork. One day I picked up a beginner Chinese art set, and from then on immediately immersed myself in the application and study of eastern arts. Along with my developing practice of Buddhism, the style and philosophies of Oriental art aroused great interest in me because it sought to express something deeper and more spiritual than western arts seemed to do. My best art springs for the quiet and calm heart, spontaneous, and without reservation.
