ABOUT THE ARTWORK
San Miguel de Allende- Worked on this a very long time. Finally feels like a right view, in moonlight. Somber church tower (with bells - which ring from before daybreak to past sunset). The churches dominate the town, as they do in most of Mexico. On feast days the simple people fill these churches with tears in their eyes. Poverty was everywhere. Rich ornate architecture was “for the people.” Public gardens had bandstands and fountains. the riches of the upper class were on display for every barefoot person to see.
