About The Artwork

"Everything is important, but craft is most important." (Serbian folk tale) Somehow the king decided to ride with his wife and daughter on the sea in a ship. Before they could sail far from the shore, a strong wind blew and carried them to distant lands, to an unknown country, where nothing was heard of their kingdom. We went ashore. The king was afraid to say who he was, but they had no money with them at all. The king did not know any craft and was hired by the shepherds to guard the village herd. So they lived for several years. And then one day the son of the king of that country saw the daughter of a shepherd. She was good, like a clear dawn, and already became a bride. The prince announced to his father and mother that he would not marry anyone but the daughter of a shepherd from such and such a village. Father, mother and all the courtiers persuaded him not to be ashamed: how could it be, prince - but he would suddenly marry a cowgirl! After all, there are so many royal and royal daughters in the world! But all in vain, - the prince kept repeating one thing: "I don’t need another!" Seeing that he could not be dissuaded, the king sent the vizier to tell the shepherd that he wanted to marry the prince to his daughter. The vizier came and said this to the shepherd, who asked: - And what craft does the prince know? The vizier was terrified: “God be with you, good man!” What craft the prince can know! Yes, and what is his craft? People learn the craft to feed themselves, and the prince has both land and cities. “Since he does not know any craft, I will not give my daughter for him,” the shepherd says. The vizier returned and told the king the words of the shepherd. The courtiers were surprised. They thought that the shepherd would consider it great happiness and honor if the prince takes his daughter as his wife, and he, look, demands that the prince know the craft! The king sends another vizier, but the shepherd also says the same to him: “Until the prince learns some craft and brings me the products of his hands, there will be no friendship between us.” The second vizier returned to the palace and said that the shepherd would not give up his daughter until the prince learned some craft. Then the prince went along the market square and began to choose what is easier to learn. He went from one shop to another, looked at how different craftsmen work, and came to the shop where they wove matting. Such a craft seemed to him the easiest. He began to study and a few days later weaved the matting. They took it to the shepherd, said that the prince had learned the craft, and now, they say, his product. The shepherd took the mat in his hands, examined it from all sides and asked: “How much does it cost?” “Four pennies,” they say. - Well, nothing! Today, four pennies, yes tomorrow four is eight, and four the day after tomorrow is twelve ... If I knew this craft, I would not have grazed the village herd now! And the king said who he was and how he got here. Everyone was glad that they didn’t take the shepherd’s daughter, but the royal daughter, they married the young and played a merry wedding. Then the king was given ships and people, and he returned to his country.

I was born in the village Nahoryany, near Dubno, Ukraine. Live in Dubno all my life. .I work in different styles and genres using oil and aquarelle paints, gouache, and also make graphics. Mostly my works are book illustrations. How do i draw my drawings? I make grimaces near the mirror when looking for a needed emotion. I love silence. Like working in the night when the city is asleep. I strive to create expressive images, convey emotions, human behavior. Also I love and paint nature: landscapes, flowers. It is important for me to know that one can find interest in my works, so that I would know my work was not in vain.
