extinction rebellion 1 Painting

I seek to create a sense of theatricality and performance within my work. Orientating figures into a stage-managed scene that alludes to a narrative or parable. The protagonists are often aloof; emotionally and physically absorbed in their painted worlds. In this piece I was inspired by the drama surrounding re-wilding and extinction. I'm interested in the tension and connection between the creature and their surroundings. How the lion is both a predator and hunter but also a custodian whose natural behaviors shape the make-up of the landscape. The blurred effect and splashed paint seeks to creates the sense of spontaneity and impermanence, the moment consisting of this creature in this landscape is fleeting and fragile.
