About The Artwork
Created from Hand painted pushpins on the Ben Day dot grid this work utilized color and contrast to provide even tone when viewed from afar. The combination of the three primary colors placed side by side, gives the viewer an overall wash of color much like the pixels in an old TV set. Layering all 3 colors vertically on the pin maintains that same sense of continuity when viewed from various angles and seeing into the depth of the painting. Creating this particular work I was able to create an optical illusion with the placement of the colors on the pins that make up the martini glass. The top layer of color correlates directly to the base color, while the middle remains light blue and represents the liquid. Therefore what you perceive as being behind the glass is actually placed on top. Encased with Art glass this work is UV protected and has a reduction in both the green element found in standard glass as well as minimal reflection so it can be enjoyed from many angles while remaining protected.

My name is Matthew Adamczyk, I am a self taught artist residing in Chicago. Prior to establishing my career as a painter I was a Principle Ballet Dancer. Having a profound love and a natural curiosity for all aspects of art, I am exploring many ideas as to what art can be through painting. My career dancing and performing on stage has triggered a sense of depth, light and shadow, perception and layers in art. My paintings focus on multiple layers of color to create a mix of tone, contrast and depth that constantly change as the art is viewed from different angles. I achieve this by hand painting thousands of push pins and plotting them on a Ben Day dot grid to establish the subject matter. The background area is painted but left without the presence of pins to create additional depth. Inspired by the Pop and Graphic artists before me I try and keep each piece bright, whimsical, and full of life and energy.
