About The Artwork
"Eye of the Dog" is an Acrylic & ink on canvas painting. The title of this art work came from an interesting shape of yellow that looked to me like the shape of a dogs head. With an overly of paint around the head shape came the form of what I thought looked like an eye, so thought it fitting to name the painting after this. This artwork was inspired and formed from my love and interest of using a palette knife to overlap shape and colour to form new shapes of interest to the viewer, with the addition of abstract mark making. This art work comes with painted sides and is fitted with D-rings, and strung with picture hanging cord ready to hang.

My work focuses on creating contemporary and abstract compositions using traditional media and techniques such as acrylics, inks, canvas and board. I look at the deterioration of materials such as walls, buildings, fabrics and the natural weathered ageing process of painted surfaces for the inspiration to create my work. As well as this, I like to create abstract wall art using drift wood and found or recycled objects. These are often found whilst walking my Ridgeback on the beaches of the Dorset coastline where I live. I enjoy creating layered, textured and weathered looking works that can be achieved with a basic palette knife. I find these to be the most natural and effective forms to create the artworks that reflect me and the type of art that I enjoy.
