About The Artwork

The work of Matisse has inspired me to make a painting that shows my appreciation for the painter Matisse. His work (amongst a lot of other painters ofcourse - and I'm making more 'Eye Winks...) sets fire to my enthousiasme to paint. The image of what I had to paint arised in my imagination rather quick. I hope that people who see this work will emotionally be moved in a positive way. I always paint with acrylic because it gives me freedom in choice and time. The urge to paint is something I can't explain. It's there, herited from my ancestors of which Frederik Hendrik Kaemmerer is well known.

Jean Cariot - KAEMMERER - was born in The Hague, the Netherlands, on 3 June 1948. Kaemmerer is his pseudonyme under which he paints abstract art. Kaemmerer is a well known name in the art world. Frederik Hendrik Kaemmerer is a famous 19th century painter and he is the great great grand uncle of Jean. Wanting to paint I consider it as my genetic heritage. Jean started to paint more seriously in 1988. He is autodidact.
