ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This diptych comprises two canvases, the first one measuring 100x100x3.5 cm, and the second one measuring 70x100x3.5 cm, which can be hung on the wall closely together, slightly spaced apart, or even at a distance. The color scheme is vibrant, featuring tones of burgundy, blue, and yellow to convey feelings of happiness and tranquility. The blossoming branch carries an Eastern influence, likely due to my deep affection for Japan and haiku poetry, one of which inspired the title of the exhibition held at the Museum of San Salvatore in Lauro in March 2022. It serves as a common thread connecting a previous project with the current one. The technique consists of two distinct stages. The initial phase involves applying paint to the canvases to achieve a desired fluidity while harmoniously combining three colors. The subsequent phase entails selecting an appropriate subject.

Giusy Lauriola, an Italian artist born and residing in Rome, explores a complex dialogue between gesture, color, and sign through her art. Resin, a material that consistently characterizes her work, merges with a chromatic research that combines abstraction and figuration, creating a balance between emotion and perception. Her delicate figuration, far from mimicking reality, becomes a symbol of a new metaphysical dimension, while the underlying abstraction suspends time and space, inviting existential reflections. In 2021, at the SyArt Sorrento International Festival, she received the prestigious Arbiter Fata Verde Award, and in 2022 she was featured on the cover of Arbiter magazine. She also received an Honorable Mention from the Circle Foundation for the Arts in 2020 and 2022, and was a finalist in prominent competitions such as the Premio Lupa 2020 and the Premio Celeste 2007. In 2015, she won the Museo Pier Maria Rossi competition. Her works are part of prestigious collections, including the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, the SanPaolo Invest Art Collection in Rome, and the Pinacoteca Comunale Antonio Sapone in Gaeta. From 2021 to 2024, she participated in numerous contemporary art fairs, such as Arte in Nuvola in Rome, and fairs in Genoa, Padua, and Parma. In 2020, she was included in the Atlante dell'Arte Contemporanea De Agostini, one of the most comprehensive surveys of Italian artists from 1950 onwards. Her career has led her to exhibit internationally, as an honorary guest at the International Photo Festival in Lodz (Poland) in 2006, and in solo exhibitions at prestigious venues such as the Italian Cultural Institute of Damascus in 2010, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo in 2024, on the occasion of Holocaust Memorial Day.
