About The Artwork

Natella's painting is animated by a singular creative verve, which draws inspiration from various fields. Hence the multiplicity of thematic choices (ranging from mythology to history, from sacred to oniric) and stylistic features. The artist paints straight off, driven by a strong communicative need, often fueled by the expressive use of color and the agitated rhythm of images, without however renouncing passages of pure technical virtuosity. In particular in "Bros" the artist sarcastically confronts the ever-current theme of homophobia, staging this important theme, through a simple and immediate, but above all frivolous, image that makes a mockery of those with such prejudices. Natella, 1972, of Neapolitan origin. after having studied at the art high school of Salerno and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, he moved first to Varese and then to Tuscany where he worked as a teacher of the Italian public school; and it is in Tuscany that the inspiration becomes strong, close to the great masters of the past, but mindful of the baggage of the great seventeenth-century Neapolitan painting, that with Caravaggio starts a single strand in Europe and of which Our is proud of, both for the popular scenes and sometimes for the theatrical flavor, and for the memory of the light and shadow typical of those masters. The artist after a Tuscan stay of about ten years in Cortona (Ar), where the municipality sponsored him a personal exhibition at the Medici fortress of Girifalco, as well as numerous collective exhibitions; he moved first to Sorrento and then to Salerno, where in 2017 he won the second edition of the Biennale di salerno and in 2019 he was invited to honor. He currently lives and works in Salerno. as a teacher and as an artist.
