About The Artwork

Painting: Mixed Media on Canvas. Solid Wood Stretcher Frame 45mm (the borders are also painted) Ready to hang thanks to the stretcher frame and a wire Original artwork Comes with a certificate This painting is part of the Corona-Stories series; Facebook Conversations. Because of the Corona-Lockdowns there was a lot of loneliness. As a result, many men saw the artist but not the artwork. The artist received countless messages on fecebook. She let herself be inspired by the messages and incorporated some of them in the painting. The atmosphere and appearance of the painting are strongly influenced by the incidence of (sun) light because the texts are written in leaf metal. The changing incidence of light during the day ensures that the texts stand out more or less. The artist also used pearlyglow paint. As a result the orange sometimes appears pink. This changes the artwork during the course of the day.

Have you ever considered how special it is that we can read? Text is nothing but a series of characters in a row, to which we have assigned meanings. We can experience a whole range of feelings and emotions just by looking at those signs. From an early age I have been fascinated by letters. When I look at letters, I see beautifully designed figures. What I find so fascinating is that we don’t or hardly don’t see those figures anymore, once we can read. You are immediately transported to the world behind the letters. Based on this fascination, I want to show how text and image intertwine in my head. How they enter into a symbiosis with each other. I do this by making paintings in which I interweaves image and text. I use gold leaf and silver leaf that reflect the light in a different way each time you walk by. This brings the painting to life and makes it look different every time you look at it.
