About The Artwork
Music is most of the time my source of inspiration. I painted a serie of fantasy landscapes and this artwork is inspired by Rachmaninov, the first piano concerto. The expressive music is reflected in the expressive way of painting, the strong moves and the contrast in the light and dark parts.

Jan (Wierden 1948). In the beginning he painted how it was teached, in a realistic and impressionistic way. Bit by bit the landscapes lost their horizons and their structure of creating space. More an more his work became expressionistic and abstract. Music, especially classical music is a big source of inspiration. Nowadays he is painting a serie with 'Fantasy Landscapes' so the horizon is back! Jan won together with his partner Laura Rominu the third price in AIAF, the international Art Fair in Amsterdam.
