Recently I’ve been experimenting with full-saturation color palettes and more loose mark making for a more playful approach. This model had lots of fun textures to work with that allowed me to explore a more expressive style. This painting was created with gouache on wood panel.

Ciara Froning is a graphic designer by day and a visual artist by night. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Central Arkansas and currently resides in Rogers, AR. Primarily using gouache and watercolor, Ciara enjoys exploring themes of pop-culture, beauty found in ordinary objects, and the intricacies of the human psyche. She also experiments frequently with alternative printmaking techniques and mixed media. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including Manifest Gallery, ShockBoxx, Gallery 1988, and more. She has also been featured in multiple publications, including The Hand Magazine and Booooooom, to name a few.
Artist Statement:
There’s a constant pull between control and chaos. As a neurodivergent mother, I feel it intensely as I strive to simply meet the demands of daily life. In an effort to abandon negative coping patterns, I now find my peace through the process of painting and experimental printmaking. My recent work reflects my personal challenge to channel my inner chaos as I seek out the serene.
