About The Artwork

86"h x 56"w acrylic, casein on stretched canvas. Singular, large scale, bright and colorful statement piece. Field Tapes from Mound City is inspired by my local area. Mound City is the nickname given to the city for its multitude of Native American sites. The painting is arranged like a cubist still life with implied symbolic artifacts like a fan with a deer in the shadows, a huichol textile colored poppy, at center is an implied group of crystals which are abundant in this area. Too, the hexagram pops up in a few places to represent bees and the architecture of nature. This is a bold and colorful work. It has a strong graphic quality, as well as, a painterly one. This piece is rendered in acrylic and casein so it has a rich, matte quality. LaChance's works were recently selected by Associate Curator, Kelly Shindler of the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis for the 119th survey of midwestern painters for New American Paintings. Her work was displayed at the 2015 PULSE Miami during Art Basel. LaChance exhibits in galleries across the United States and is collected world wide. In 2016 she will be in a group exhibition at the Elmhurst Art Museum and will exhibit at the Evansville Museum of Art, History and Science in 2017.
