This painting was based on a sketch, painted from life in mid-June, when the lupines are in bloom. Even then, in the growing flowers, I saw in my mind a future picture. The size of the picture and the composition should create the feeling that you are entering this evening into a clearing with lupines. And the full moon rises above the horizon.
